Maggy Stead, 71, is at a crossroads.  Time and money have run out and she needs to sell her extraordinary family home of 40 years, “The Steading”.  This film follows Maggy’s journey as she packs up.  Her pension plan has always been to sell The Steading.  For 7 years Maggy’s been trying to retire to the Pyrenees to live near her sister.  Yet she is torn by her belief that Tim’s outstanding work should be preserved for future generations.  Sculpted from wood and love by her late husband Tim Stead, The Steading is a work of art and was awarded a Grade A listing as a building of national importance in 2020.  Tim created some of Scotland’s most popular public art and has been noted as a designer on a par with Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

To whom can Maggy pass on the legacy of Tim’s work? After years of trying, can the Tim Stead Trust finally secure enough money to buy it from her and start a creative wood hub to inspire future generations of artists and makers?
